Ikeshima is an island in the south of Japan that used to be known for its active and prosperous coal mine. Due to a tragic mine accident 10 years ago most people were forced to leave the island due to dangerous levels of pollution. The corridors were filled with children’s toys, it made me imagine a place that was once bustling with life.
