My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

United Kingdom | Friday, July 5, 2013 | 5 photos

Home for me is the North Norfolk coast, England. This is where my entry photographs were created. 'A fisherman's life' is a project i shot last year, a documentation of a week spent with my Uncle the last working Fisherman from a small, once thriving fishing village. The majority of my own work is based around my personal experiences. My affection for photography was grown from being able to share these experiences. There's something raw and unbeatable in being able to show a image of the situation you were in. Growing up deep in the english countryside I have since my early teens, had a very keen eye for adventure. Moving to university near London was one of my more recent and since, I have grabbed every opportunity to travel, exploring mainland europe . Experiencing new culture's is key for me. This is why this competition appeals to me and so many others. I haven't yet been to a very remarkable different culture to our own. I was once given as a present a book, "The lost photographs of Captain Scott" I always return to this eager to experience the colder climate. I feel to develop as a person and as a photographer an experience like this would be remarkable invaluable. Jamie
