The Ghosts of Havana – Tourism in Cuba is the country’s main source of wealth. A great way for young ladies to live a more grandiose lifestyle compared to the average Cuban worker, is to sell their bodies to seedy tourists. Prostitution is illegal in Cuba, but Havana’s streets are teaming with harlots. These innovative ladies have found a loop hole in the system, instead of getting paid directly for their services they will request that their food and alcohol is paid for throughout night.

Mid Afternoon on The Malecón – This is the place to be, teenagers can get a reprieve from the stifling afternoon sun and a chance to socialise and laze around on the rocks, meanwhile the more daring youths dive into the Gulf of Mexico waters without any caution for their well-being. Momentarily oblivious to that mighty land merely 100 miles to the north who for the past 50 years has helped prevent any kind of real progress.

Time for Reflection – Trinidad at dusk, these ladies relax on their doorsteps after a hard day’s work. And I do mean hard in every sense of the word with the average Cuban worker only earning about $25 a month, making Cubans really quite poor compared to people of the western world. But Socialist Cuba is world famous for providing free healthcare, free education, free housing and free food rations for every family and because of this fact there is a feeling of contentedness within the population.
