My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
United Kingdom | Thursday, July 4, 2013 | 5 photos
My history with photography started when I was 16 when I chose to study the subject as an extra that I could enjoy. 6 months later I found myself studying photography full time with a firm interest in nature photography. I have now just completed my first year of study in Marine and Natural History Photography, a course that seems tailor made for my love of the outdoors and my photographic preferences.
I recently visited Unst, the United Kingdom’s most northerly island in Shetland to work with the light. The sun barely sets in summer, meaning early starts and late finishes to make the most of the incredible light, and the desire to make the most of such light served as my main source of energy as I travelled the island by bicycle during my trip.
Although I find myself studying on the course of my dreams, I still have a huge amount to learn. I see my study as a sure sign of my determination to make a future in photography and my appetite for travel photography has only grown after visiting a talk by Nigel Hicks. I can’t think of a more exciting and beneficial opportunity than to learn from the expertise of Jason and help turn my hunger for knowledge in to a more complete package.
