    A sweet night of Taarab music at the Swahili restaurant where we celebrated the half-way point in our journey (Thanks Rick and Maureen!!). Taarab is originally from Egypt and was brought to Zanzibar long ago. Views[568] Skewer after skewer -- hard to get enough! The nightly sale of inexpensive street food on the waterfront, featuring seafood freshly caught in the Indian Ocean. Views[450] Stone Town in Zanzibar is famous for its beautiful doors, many of which reflect the unique mix of Swahili, Indian, and Arab cultures that makes Zanzibar so unique. Views[448] A memorial statue capturing the horror of the slave trade that thrived in Zanzibar for many decades.The statues are connected with original chains used to shackle humans.     After our day in the Ngorongoro Crater, we got to our new campsite to find we had traded in baboons and lions at the Serengeti camp for giant elephants and zebras at Ngorongoro! With the company of animal-neighbors and the view of the crater, we decided that this must be one of the most beautiful places in the world to spend a night. Views[365] We watched this hyena smell his way toward the lion's feast... and get bullied away. Views[363] Lion says, Who is the King of the Jungle??? Views[325]

    ...and so utterly beautiful. This gorgeous mother-cat-to-be took our breath away. Views[407] She's sooooo pregnant! Views[386] boy meets girl. sort of. Views[411] We drove up to find this sneaky lion covertly watching a herd of zebra - as we watched, he turned his head toward us, and Miral thought she heard him say,
     
    Miral said she felt like we had landed right smack in the middle of the Jungle Book. Views[431] Eeeewe! These scavengers were almost as tall as Miral! Views[832] Every once in a while, we get to witness something in life that leaves us awestruck -- here, we stood still in our jeep, watching a small part of the tail end of the annual wildebeast migration...
