    For now, the last two generations of Hanunuo Mangyans who know their native craft of basket-weaving of Oriental Mindoro sun-drying the buri leaves, a type of palm. by: ivan Views[1192] Baye Omeng weaves their traditional indigo and white fabrics on her backstop loom. They are one of the last tribes in the Philippines known to produce their own thread for weaving from the cotton plant. by: ivan Views[850] A laugh ensues as Baye Omeng explains the process of habol weaving and its similarities to a courting ritual. Habol is a Tagalog word for chase. by: ivan Views[581] Baye Omeng sets the cotton fibers as the warp on the loom that has been passed down for generations. She relays that they consider this loom to be one of their prized possessions. by: ivan Views[486] Baye Anna inserts nito(black vine) into a woven plate of buri to incorporate their patterns and designs.
