We took a few days and went fishing in Ucluelet, BC. The drive to the island was spectacular, the towns laid back and lovely.
We took an afternoon and went whale watching. We didn't see much of the beasts, just a bit of a tail but nothing like the tour guide photos. However, on the way back we did see some elusive sea otters. They were quite a ways off, but we captured some of them with the zoom lens.
On the actual fishing trip Ed
caught a salmon and Irene caught a halibut. We each caught a few rock
fish, as well.
We both got terribly sea sick the first day, but
thankfully someone suggested those little stick-on patches that go
behind the ear that prevent the sea sickness. They worked great!
We
stayed on an old ship that has been converted to a hotel. That was real
interesting because basically we were in an 'old ship' with round port
hole windows, narrow bunks, and doorways that you had to step up and
over to get out. The common bathroom down the hall had an old tub with
the lion's feet on the bottom. I'm kind of glad it was the only place
available.
