My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Iceland | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | flickr photos
My name is Ingolfur Bjargmundsson and I‘m from Iceland. I have always had a passion for photography ever since I saw my first National Geography magazine at the age of 8.
Iceland is one of few countries where you have to study for 4 years and go on an internship before you can open your own business in photography. The good thing is that professional photographers here are well educated, but the down side is that the market is very small and professional photographers are few. My chances in getting an internship are small, specially in the current climate.
This contest could change everything for me and make my dream come true to travel and photograph landscapes and different cultures. I am very enthusiastic about photography. During the summer, which is the best season to capture the essence of my beautiful country, I regularly go straight after work on an overnight photography trip and go straight back to work in the morning. My photography is about capturing the moment, especially moments where man and nature interact.
I have strong opinions on environmental issues and I believe that by sharing photos of our nature, we can teach people to treat the environment with more respect.
