Several friends, P and I went bowling together the other night. I decided to join just for the good conversation because my old lady knee was being rather cranky (I think with the sudden changes in temperature) so I watched and kept company as everyone was taking their turn. Game two came along and suddenly I was no longer watching a traditional game of bowling. I was introduced to Adventure Bowling.
Adventure Bowling is something that P and one of his childhood friends made up when they were in high school (perhaps grade school - let´s parking lot that and I will get back to you when I really find out). As the official rules indicate, bowlers take turns each round making up a silly way to bowl. If the bowler hits even one pin in the first frame, he/she can bowl the traditional way the following frame. However, if the bowler does not hit any pins in the first frame, the bowler must repeat the same silly method of bowling for the second frame.
I have not laughed so hard in such a long time. There were all sorts of goofy ideas from spinning 10 times in place before sending the ball down the ally to squatting, bowling between your legs and holding your hands over your head until the ball completes its journey down the ally to singing john-jacob-jingle-heimer-smith loudly as you hop down to the line. It sounds absolutely wacky, and trust me, IT IS, but it is hysterical!
I cannot wait until we do this again because I really want to be more than just a spectator!
