Day 17
AUSTRALIA | Monday, 9 May 2011 | Views [288]
Today we topped up with fuel and coffee before heading South. The road was quite good and was Tarmac'd more than the book indicated which helped a bit as we made a whole load of stops to take pictures. Because of the recent floods the creeks were teaming with fish which brought a stack full of birds along to eat them. There were a few Roos, some Emus and even a Dingo to photograph on the way.Not too sure about the Dingo though, it must have some domesticated blod in it as it liked to chase the trucks as they were passing. We had a few water crossings to make but nothing too worrying. The main route to Birdsville was shut so we had to take the floodway detour. We eventually got to Birdsville about 18:45 and 424 Kms later. We learnt that a lot of things were shut, such as the Big red sand dune and the road to the Corner(N/T, QLD and SA borders)We'll have to think of something else to do tomorrow.
