We rose at 06.30 to a lovely day. Bit of a cool breeze but a cloudless sky. After a spot of breakkie it was time to break camp. Leaving Broken Hill by 09.05 and with a brief stop for a team photo under the Welcome to South Australia sign it was tarmac all the way to Yunta. Here we topped up with fuel, had a quick cuppa and adjusted the tyre pressures to suit the forthcoming gravel roads. It was then into the outback we go. Lunch was on the go and the scenery was worth a few photos. But apart from that it was a pretty uneventful day. With plans to camp in the Gammon ranges national park scuppered, due to the fact there was limited sites and the ground was not the best, we headed westwards towards Leigh Creek. We managed to stumble upon a camp site at Iga Warta which, at first sight, looked slightly dodgy and disorganized. However, it turned out to be a “ don’t judge a book by it’s cover” affair. It was run by an Aboriginal family who treated us to campfire stories and songs. They then fed us a damper served with homemade cream and Quandong Jam. It was then time for shower and bed.
