The Frosty Freeze - Business in rural Montana

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

USA | Thursday, January 10, 2013 | 5 photos

Every outstanding photograph is as rewarding to me as another pint of air from Earth’s atmosphere – a breath of fresh air for the eyes. I am a photojournalism student at the University of Montana. Now a junior, I work for the school newspaper, the Montana Kaimin, as a photographer and videographer and have a passion and developing knack for visual storytelling. My idea of a day well spent consists of a long walk with a camera in hand, whether it be through the streets of Seattle or closer to home in the Selway-Bitterroot wilderness of Montana. In this digital age, it’s hard to know what is real anymore – what images truly portray the world as it is. I believe all photographers’ foremost obligation is to ensure their images depict the truth as accurately as possible and in a way does the photo-subjects justice. My photography has yet to take me off-continent, and this chance to travel to Oman under the tutelage of a professional sends my head reeling with excitement. Even during the rare occasions I experience without a camera, I still pause and see a world busting with people and places with compelling stories that deserve telling. One only has to open their eyes and apertures.
