Smith, right, serves ice cream to Fred Weber, a shepherd and cow herder who lives on the outskirts of Drummond.

Linda Smith, 69, bought the Frosty Freeze in 1989 from the original aging owner, Marge James in 1989.

Around 1 p.m., the Frosty Freeze experiences its lunch rush of local regulars and travelers from Interstate 90. Smith may serve about 100 costumers on a busy day.
