My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Photography is about connecting with people, knowing the cultures and background of the place. It is the passion for story-telling that lead me to be start photographing. A picture is indeed worth a thousand words!
As I volunteered myself as a photographer for the Taiwan Buddhist Tzu Chi Society, they gave me so much opportunity to photograph people, to get involved with the local community, and to help others in need. Soon, I realized that my skills can be put into good use, to touch the hearts of others and may these photographs motivate them to participate in local community volunteering. That gave me a sense of pride and purpose in what I do.
Although with the convenience of digital photography, I challenged myself to make every single photograph count. Why spend so much time filtering through your photographs when you can use that time to photograph more details? By raising the bar, I managed to yield meaningful shots after each photography assignment.
I believe that I can do more than just capturing a scene. I want my images to affect the lives of many and touch the hearts of people. After all, we are all connected as one big family. Let those images speak up and be heard.
