Week in Oaxaca

MEXICO | Saturday, 7 December 2013 | Views [291]

We had almost a week in Oaxaca - a big city with a beautiful old historical centre.  Did a spot of shopping!  And also visited the ruins of Mitla and Monte Alban.  Monte Alban is on top of a mountain outside Oaxaca with 360 degree views.

Ate lots of enchiladas, fajitas, tacos, tortillas, churros.

And one day we had a taxi for about 5 hours and visited some of the artisans villages outside Oaxaca.  They make pottery, alebrijes (animals carved out of wood and painted), textiles.

Every day in Mexico is a huge fiesta - we have no idea what they're celebrating most of the time!  But it's good fun to watch.  There's always dancing, music, food, and fireworks EVERY DAY!  Seriously.  Sometimes at 6am in the morning.
