My Photography Scholarship to Oman 2012

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Australia | Monday, December 31, 2012 | flickr photos

Originally from Sri Lanka I moved to Sydney in April 2011. Since young, I've always had a camera with me. I had this crazy idea that I could have a biography of my life in pictures. I never took photography seriously until I got my DSLR in May 2011 to explore Sydney. At the Botanical Gardens one day, I saw birds I had never seen before. I started taking pictures of them. It brought back memories of when I was about 7. My dad built a cage in our garden in Sri Lanka and we got about four lovebirds. They quickly turned into about 15. I had a book called Birds of Prey with pictures of birds. I used to draw and paint these birds but never read the book as I was more into art and painting. I grew up watching channels like National Geographic and Animal Planet. I recall the first time watching David Attenborough’s Life on Earth when I was 8. I feel that this would be an excellent opportunity to improve my skills as a travel photographer. There would be no limit to what I could learn from an award winning photographer like Jason Edwards. The knowledge gained working with him would be invaluable.
My dream is to have one of my photographs on the cover of National Geographic magazine one day.
