Even in the midst of the busy Tokyo district of Asakusa, one can still find peace and serenity. As seen here, a passer-by stops to pay her respects to Buddha in the quiet garden of Sensoji.

Marked as a World Heritage Site, visitors to the temple embrace the sunset over Otowasan Kiyomizudera and take in the beautiful scenery of nature and the view overlooking Eastern Kyoto.

Even the absence of sunlight does not deter Sensoji from illuminating brightly throughout the night. The Kaminarimon or ‘Thunder Gate’ dominates the outer entrance to Sensoji with a magnificent five-story pagoda also overlooking the temple grounds. Founded in 628 A.D., Sensoji is Tokyo’s oldest temple located in the Asakusa district.
