Whispering tales of Magic

Easter 2009

I landed in Ireland on Wednesday 8th April at 11pm at Shannon airport and was sat in Claires kitchen tea and biscuits by midnite. Loverly!

Surprisingly, it did not rain much and we had a nice week with a great day on Easter Sunday when we went to place called Brigets Garden in Galway for an Easter Egg Hunt. It is a private garden which has been opened to the public, there are gardens representing each of the seasons, a nature trail, a fairy glen and sundial which tells you what day it is as well as what time.

By Sunday evening we were all chocolated out, except Rose who would live permanently on chocolate if left to her own devises. The chocolate Lindt bunnies were missing ears and tails and the table was groaning under the weight of all the easter eggs.

I was sleeping on the bottom bunk bed with Arsenal bedding, I always wanted to sleep on the bottom bunk when i was younger, but was never allowed as i was the eldest and it was considered unsafe to put my younger sisters up there, so Ireland is fulfilling so many long lost dreams and wishes in so many unexpected ways! hehe

This was just a flying visit that i booked when the rumours at work were that we might be working till June or July, I did some recce work and found some websites that I can look at nearer the time of moving. www.advertise.ie and www.recruitdirect.ie and the Galway races are the last week in July and they need  casual waiting staff for the week.

I had my birthday in Ireland (April 15th for future reference!) and we were "Ladies who Lunch" for the day. We went to Claires Tea Rooms in Kilcolgan, definately worth a visit if you find yourself in the area, the food was good and it is a really cute set up with real table cloths, china cups and saucers that don't match and tea in a real teapot, not one of the stainless steel catering monstroseties that most restaurents use, then a browse round the shops to spend money we haven't got on things we don't need!!

My return flight was booked for 9pm on Wednesday 15th April, so i duly turned up to Shannon airport and after going through customs found out the flight had been delayed by 2 hours, oh joy! 2 hours of sitting in an airport waiting, waiting, waiting....... but then what is this i see? A vision of green hunkiness The airport was filled with US army men waiting for a flight home! A whole regiment of them mmmmmmmmmm, that kept me entertained for a while, watching.

Eventually my flight was ready and I arrived back in the UK and collected my car and got on the road at 00.40, a lot later than originally planned. So I wound down the window, turned up the music and started singing my way home to help stay awake.

I like singing, I'm not very good, but i do enjoy it. When i get really into it, I start using my hands and dancing out loud as well. Head banging in the car while driving is not such a good idea though, as the police man who pulled me over for erratic driving warned me.

Eventually got home at 3am. Long day!
