My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I’m Steve. I was born and bred in a wee village near Belfast.

I am adventurous, ambitious and witty. I have an obsessive wanderlust. Anytime there’s spare money, I’m off. But sure, “you’re long time dead”, as Dad would say. I am interested in people and society, and they’re usually the center of my photography. I never had a digital camera until going to Costa Rica in 2010. I got a Nikon CoolPix. I will never forget the first photo I captured that I was truly proud of. It was of a hummingbird in the rainforest. It took a lot of waiting and patience. I sat for about three hours but finally I got the photo - the feeling of satisfaction was priceless. This drives me; the challenge of getting a great shot. I realized that through images, I was able to portray more than words, something I found amazing as an aspiring journalist. In the future I want to use photography in journalism. I am very interested in international affairs and human rights - especially in SE. Asia, Middle East and Latin America.

I feel that I’m an exceptional photographer, but with improvement I could make my work outstanding. The scholarship you’re offering is truly A DREAM. Jason, Oman, Wow! I hope you see my potential and that you know I will put everything into this chance, and that’s not my wanderlust talking, I swear.
