My Scholarship entry - Mum's Peninsula
Australia | Saturday, January 12, 2013 | 5 photos
Photography is to me a process of collecting and expressing memories. I view my photos as brief moments in time reflecting an emotional reaction to the environment around me. My photos tell a story that I can personally relive again and again. They also allow me to describe incredible moments more vividly to friends, family and peers than if I was to simply talk my way through those experiences.
Last year I quit my job feeling lost. Since then I have found myself asking the question (regularly!), ‘What do I want from my life? I asked myself, ‘What if money was no object?’ and ‘What do I desire?’ I would travel the world and dive headfirst in to new cultures and environments. I would love more than anything to be able to capture incredibly vivid scenes along the way. Scenes that move people, and tell of the memory I have of that place in time.
I have come to realize that it is absurd to live my life doing things I don’t like, for we are on this earth but once. Why not today? Why not now? I want to be surrounded by like minded people that have a passion for the things I do. I want to enjoy, pursue and master my passion for photography now, not later.
Sincerely,
Angus
