Friday 23 August (Perth)

I woke up at 5:30 am - my usual wake up time, but on Queensland time not Perth time which is 2 hours behind and struggled to get back to sleep! How can you get jet lagged over 2 hours.  Anyway, I had a few things to do including visit the Tanzanian consul in Perth to get my visa.  Early trip into Perth, managed to get my camera cleaned and visa application submitted.  I had to wait for 4 hours for the visa.  I spent my time wandering around Perth killing time.  While sitting with a coffee on a bench in Hay Street I watched and overheard the following conversation.

There was an old Aussie bloke siting on bench just relaxing.  A young woman walked up to him and introduced her self:

Missionary: "Hello there, I am American Christian Missionary studying at bible college in Perth before going to Nepal on missionary work."

Aussie: "Hello".

Missionary: Can I interest you in coming to our church?  Are you a Christian?"

Aussie: "I am half Jewish on my mothers side."

Missionary: "And on your mother's side?"

Aussie: "Wanker! Total wanker!"

Graham: Laughs hysterically!

Missionary: "Whats that? I haven't heard of that before."

Aussie: makes an obscene hand gesture.

Graham: Laughs even harder!

Missionary: "Oh" and walks off.

Brillant bit of entertainment for the morning.  After collecting my passsport and a little bit of shopping met Andrew in Joondalup for lunch before heading home.  Great evening BBQ! Thanks for the meat Paula and thanks to the girls for all the salads.  Great to see all the Zimbos Den, Ali & Sean, John & Vicky & brood, Steve & Ivone and cousin Steph!
