Camel Cup in the Outback

My Scholarship entry - Camel Cup in the Outback

Australia | Tuesday, November 4, 2014 | 4 photos

I live in Yulara NT, Australia better known as Ayers Rock Resort. My dirty little secret is that even though I’m 26 I have a crazy obsession with living in an RV and travelling around Australia. To pursue that dream I need to fund my travels. I made a list of all the things I would do regardless if I was paid to do it or not. Photography was at the top. I never thought I'd be able to pursue photography as a career, it was just something I did for fun. I'm investing my time and every spare cent into developing my photography skills. For example I've just started studying Travel Writing, Photography & Filmmaking with Matador Network and purchased professional gear (Nikon D810 & D600, Nikon 14-24, 24-70 & 70-200 in 2.8, Nikon 50mm 1.8 and Macro 105mm). I’m excited for the opportunity to be mentored by Jason Edwards, a fellow Australian. I’m hoping to walk away with a better understanding of what it takes to be a professional travel photographer and learn the art of getting it right in camera. I have a strong willingness to learn and strive from constructive feedback. I’m never fully happy with my shots but that’s what makes it so much fun, challenging and rewarding.
