After a long day of tending to clients in the Al Nahaseen Hammam inside the souk, this gentleman relaxes next to a pile of clean towels. Today, news photos show the hammam being used as a rebel base.

Hundreds of visitors, traders and shoppers would daily fill up the alleyways and famous covered streets of the souk. Today they lay deserted and in ruins.

Taken from the rooftop of the souk. As the sun begins to set behind the minaret of the Umayyad mosque and an uncertain future, the tourists,traders and shoppers below begin to leave the souk to their hotels, and homes.
