About gargisarkar
I am a photographer with over four years of active involvement in photography and related activities. I realized my passion for photography in 2009 and since then have followed my heart, experimenting, learning and challenging myself. I have tried out various forms of digital photography including portraits, landscapes and macro, my favorite being travel photography.
I founded Amateur Photography (https://www.facebook.com/groups/amateurphotography) in 2011, a group that invites amateur photographers who wish to share photographs, comments, tips and reference material. Apart from providing opportunities of sharing experiences, Amateur Photography has conducted theme-based online photography competitions. In less than two years, this has grown to a strong community of over 200 photographers and continues to grow in strength and talent.
In 2011, I founded Gargi Sarkar Photography on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/rimismagik) and Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/people/rimismagik/). This provided me the opportunity to share my thoughts through my photographs to an audience on a larger scale. It also opened avenues for me to receive feedback and constructive criticism from a larger photography community. In less than two years, Gargi Sarkar Photography has become a community of over 2700 individuals.
During my MBA, I initiated reinstation of GLimpse, official photography club of my alma mater - Great Lakes Institute of Management. GLimpse is an attempt to bring together students sharing the passion for photography and has been very well received. The club organized various events including photowalks and discussions. GLimpse has now been identified as the permanent photography club of Great Lakes.
I have participated in various photography events and exhibitions, have won three photography competitions and was an official photographer for TEDxChennai 2012. Currently, I am working on a startup idea based on photography.
