My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I'm almost 23 years old and I just graduated with a degree in music. Up until now, I was fully intent on becoming a famous opera singer. That is, until I fell into a strange sort of quarter-life crisis: I think I've found that I enjoy tinkering with my camera more than I enjoy practicing my soprano arias. Although I chose to study music in school, I've always been attracted to photography. From the moment my dad gave me his old Canon A-1, I knew that taking photos was something that I'd always love to do, whether it be as a hobby or as a career. I think the reason that I love photography so much lies in its versatility. Millions of photos could be taken of a single subject yet they would all be different. They would all tell a different story from a different perspective at a different moment. That's what I find so beautiful about photography. This scholarship would provide me with a view into what it would be like to pursue photography as a career, but more importantly, it would allow me to grow both as an artist and as a storyteller.
