I do photography to document different parts of my life and the lives of people around me. I got into this work from child hood and high school. When my work is going well I’m at peace. My favorite things about my work are seeing the final process and going through the creative process from concept to completion.
My favorite tool is my mind. It’s my favorite tool because it is always growing and getting sharper! My favorite material to work with is Adobe Photoshop. It’s my favorite tool because the possibilities are endless when to application is approached with the right mindset.
What I like best about what I do is having the ability to see someone else’s vision through my inner mind’s eye. Being able to create what they want as well as looking back over the work from past years, remembering all the experiences that went with creating.
When I say a piece has turned out really well what I mean that as a whole the creative process was filled with challenges and problems that I found solutions for in order to execute the project.
Some patterns I have seen in my work over the years are the types of people I enjoy working with. I mostly work with people in the modeling and music industry. The various materials and locations I utilize during my shoots always varies and changes with the industries. The urban modeling industry is always reinventing itself, so the way I use colours, texture and lighting is always changing.
When I was taught design and photography during my years in public school and private college I was taught all the rules, principles and best practices. I can say that the only thing I do different from time to time is break some of the rules because my favorite teacher Mrs. Nevison taught me never to break the rules until you know them and apply them on a regular basis.
My favorite colour is Ultramarine. Ultramarine reminds me of the Caribbean Ocean, Lake Ontario and all the swimming pools I have swam in from Toronto to Florida. I have always loved swimming since childhood, it’s made me strong and it taught me discipline and hard work from a young age. Ultramarine really reminds me of water which symbolizes both journey, new begging’s and life to me which reflects in my work as a Photographer.
I do the work that I do because it’s has always given me the creative outlet to express myself. When dancing, sculpting, painting, writing music, composing music and poetry just aren’t doing it for me Photography and Graphic Arts fill the void. My current goals are to travel and document the various wonders of this so called planet earth.
