“Light's Vision,” the statue of city designer William Light that commemorates his unique vision of a city surrounded by copious amounts of parkland. Appropriately, his statue sits in one of those parks on Montefiore Hill.

The view looking a bit further east, towards the Adelaide Hills, with the spires of St. Peter's Cathedral pointing up on the left.

City legend says that Col. Light stood on this spot, one of the highest points in the immediate area, pointed to where the city is now (as demonstrated here), and said “This is the place for a city.” That was in 1837, he died two years later of tuberculosis, aged 53). But, the vision lives on.
