Fly Ted Down Under Journeys through the land of Oz

Marvelous Melbourne

The Royal Botanic Gardens from above, one of the pride and joys of Melbournians. It is 36 hectares of landscaped, sculpted gardens, the first in Australia and often recognised as the finest. The building in the middle is Government House, home of the Governor (aka Lieutenant-Governor) of Victoria. The Shrine of Remembrance is on the right-hand edge of the park. A bit further back on the right is Fawkner Park, also very nice; I stayed for a week at a hostel in between the Shrine and Fawkner Park.
