My first sweeping view inside the immortal Melbourne Cricket Ground, one of the world's most iconic stadiums. The first grandstand on the site was built way back in 1854.

On the way to the MCG for a big football game; looking back at the Eureka Tower and the Arts Centre spire on the right, and the Rod Laver Arena on the left, where the Australian Open tennis tournament is held.

I was keen to see this game for three reasons: it featured Collingwood vs. Carlton, one of the bitterest rivalries in the league, Collingwood were the defending league champions and were raising their championship flag before the match, and it was expected to be a sell-out: what would a stadium full of 90,000 people be like? Here are Collingwood members lining up as the championship pennant is brought on to the pitch. They last won the title in 1990.
