The massive Captain Cook Memorial Water Jet, turned on each afternoon for a couple hours. Watched over by the massive Canadian Flagpole on the right. The Museum of Canberra with the model of the city inside is to the right of the flagpole, behind the trees.

The Australian/Turkish friendship memorial, in the shadow of the War Memorial. Turkey and Australia/New Zealand made an impressive reconciliation not long after Gallipoli, in essence agreeing that the invasion there was a futile idea dreamed up by the British, who pitted two sides against each other who had no real quarrel, and thus had no reason to bear grudge afterwards. The Anzacs were told to invade and the Ottoman Turks had to defend their land. Such is the futility of war.
