Sydney Day 2: Hyde Park Barracks, ANZAC, Pylon, Olympic Park AND Luna Park

That was me not too long ago, a day just like this. I was in fact there the day before this picture. Walking up the top of the arch is very easy, a nice graceful climb and not nearly as steep as one would imagine. It is more like an easy stroll once you finish climbing the ladders and get up to the top side.

The view from the Pylon onto the bridge. I walked up the right hand side of the arch, up to the flags, and then back down the left side. There are a couple groups of climbers on the right near the top of the arch and the flags, and another group coming down the left. I think on busy days they could take about 200 people an hour out to the bridge on various routes; it could actually get quite crowded. The Australian flag is on the right and the flag of New South Wales on the left (sometimes it is the Aboriginal flag).

Sydney CBD from the Pylon, that's Circular Quay in the middle, the main central ferry dock. A small cruise ship is in the middle; there is another larger cruise ship berth over to the right on the far side of The Rocks. The Rocks is the low-rise area straight ahead and below, with the oldest and most historic buildings in the city. It is now meticulously restored and very trendy. The Rocks is where the First Fleet arrived in 1788 and the first structures were built in what became Sydney.
