Sydney Day 2: Hyde Park Barracks, ANZAC, Pylon, Olympic Park AND Luna Park

The Pylon lookout at the start of the bridge has some interesting displays on the design and construction. These were the three final designs: The bottom is a cantilever bridge, the middle one is the arch without the pylons, and the top one was the chosen design with pylons. The pylons are purely aesthetic, they are not connected to the arch at all. For decades the Pylon lookout was the highest observation point in Sydney.

The view from the Pylon onto the bridge. I walked up the right hand side of the arch, up to the flags, and then back down the left side. There are a couple groups of climbers on the right near the top of the arch and the flags, and another group coming down the left. I think on busy days they could take about 200 people an hour out to the bridge on various routes; it could actually get quite crowded. The Australian flag is on the right and the flag of New South Wales on the left (sometimes it is the Aboriginal flag).
