My name is Maurice Fitzpatrick. I was educated in Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. I have been writing on literature and film in Tokyo for the past seven years. Now I live in Germany. I have been writing films for some years now. Last year, one of my film scripts taken up by the BBC and RTE. I was co-producer and writer of the film. The Boys of St. Columb's tells the story of the first generation of children to receive free secondary education as a result of the ground-breaking 1947 Education Act in Northern Ireland. Being so taken with the subject, I have also published a book – a review of which can be accessed here:

I am interested in directing my own documentaries as well as writing them: with field experience under the tutelage of Trent O'Donnell, a hugely appealing prospect, I would try to raise finance my next feature length project as director.
Publicizing my book in New York recently, I shot the short observational piece I uploaded. I tried to capture a sense of many aspects of the city and to convey my curiosity about place (I am just finishing a travel book on Asia).
Sincerely,
