My Scholarship entry - 90days in the USA

My name is Christina. I grew up in FNQ Australia. Two years out of highschool I completed a four year chef's apprenticeship. It was the longest voluntary commitment of my life so far; I always knew all I wanted to do was travel. I turned 17 whilst travelling in Japan, 21 in India and 22 in Italy. When people ask mum what I do, she tells them I'm a "full time adventurer." Other people might call what I do adventure. I call it life.
I've been funding my own mad domestic and overseas trips for years (with a little help from my Grandparents;) but I've often felt a twang of jealousy when I meet someone who is paid to travel. I tell stories, write and take photos. Maybe it's time to hand in the knives and boots. This could be my chance.
Peru has been on my list since working with Peruvian chefs at the Sheraton Hotel as an apprentice. I'd say "Hola Juan!" each morning, catch that special smile on the chef's face as he watched churros bobbing and spitting in fryer oil and think to myself; that place he's smiling about, I want to go there. I'm ready to step up and see where this opportunity takes me. I hope you agree.
