Day 140: Tivoli

DENMARK | Saturday, 4 June 2016 | Views [196]

We enjoyed some alone time today. I checked out the Graf surrounding the metro stations, stumbled upon a flea market and a food, beer and wine market, then saw where H.C Anderson was buried. People sit in this cemetery enjoying picnics, sunbathing and just hanging out and enjoying the space. It was nice to see, because the tombstones (many from the 1800s) aren't lonely ;) Mike went to a part of town that operates separately from the rest of the city called Christiania where certain things are banned but they get away with selling there. He thought it was weird that their uniform consists of balaclavas though...sounded interesting. Apparently there is some great street art but you can't take photos in the commune area...or run...? We met up at 9 o'clock (just as the sun was setting) at Tivioli - the second oldest theme park in the world. It has a certain class about it, as it is authentic and original. The bazaar section is beautiful with old glass light bulbs (probably an original feature) and it all fits nicely together. Like most people there we were excited for the fireworks to end the evening. The music started, the laser lights were flashing..then it all stopped and the announcement apologised for the cancellation due to tech issues. Hahaha
