So after a very long journey I have arrived in the capital city of Vietnam - Hanoi! This is my first real venture into South East Asia.
The few mishaps so far have been delays in flights, no ATMs, the most hectic and chaotic driving system I have ever seen, being dumped by the taxi driver when he couldn't move his car further amongst the people/street sellers/motorbikes, ending up at the wrong hotel (I didn't realise until the next morning) and what appeared to be an attempt to steal my thongs by a local man.
But that's what travelling is all about, right?
A great first night was had with some familiar faces and a crazy roundabout is being used as a land mark to ensure I don't get lost! With beers costing around about $1 this is definitely necessary!
Not much English is spoken here... Which is great - I just wasn't prepared. Will definitely need to brush up on some key Vietnamese terms.
Tonight I start my tour from Hanoi to Siem Reap for 15nights. Very exciting!
