    This photograph shows another angle on the Cuillin hills this time from the south at Elgol on the Isle of Skye. Many of these west coast villages are similar and the main industries are fishing and tourism. This trawler is causing controversy amongst local fishermen and marine biologists due to the method of fishing involved. Many are concerned about the state of the fisheries and the sea bed. by: eol Views[244] This photograph of a winter mountaineer on the ridge of Liathach (an impressive mountain just north of Applecross) represents some of what the tourist industry is about in the small communities on the west coast. The human impact is negligible and red deer, a golden eagle and countless other species were sighted very close by on the ascent. by: eol Views[303] This evocative image of a stag silhouetted against a sunset represents so much about Applecross. Taken again on a hillside just above the main village, the majestic animal appears to be standing, taking in the beautiful sunset colours the west coast of Scotland is famous for. by: eol Views[247] This is a photograph of the Cuillin hills on the Isle of Skye from a hillside above the mains of Applecross. These hills are also a defining view from the place and many hours are taken up by locals and visitors alike, imagining and contemplating while the scene before them constantly changes and is never the same twice. by: eol Views[220] My first image is of Applecross Bay from the Bealach na Ba (the highest mountain pass in Britain). In my opinion this rarely photographed scene, is the defining view of where I now live. It is the first glimpse of the west coast village you get when approaching by road. by: eol Views[267]
