Carnevale in Venezia!!

It's been a crazy few days...we moved into our apartment and have been cleaning like crazy, but its getting better! Still no internet, though some nice person nearby has wireless :)

We went to Venice on Saturday...amazing! We got there at about 9:30 am (which means we got up at 5!) and wandered through the city until we got to St. Mark's Square. We stopped along the way to buy some homemade Carnevale masks and get our faces painted! St. Mark's Square was gorgeous...better than the movies! There were people dressed up everywhere, its was kind of like Halloween in Madison. The whole city is kind of surreal, its hard to believe people actually live there, it seems more like an amusement park, like Disney World or something. We wandered around most of the day, just people watching and seeing cool buildings. We listened to a German marching band performing in the square, and danced in the rain to some reggae music :) We also ate some delicious (though quite spicy) pasta, gelato, and Bellinis on the square. The only downside of the day was that it was freezing cold and raining the whole day, so I was like a little ice cube by the time we left. It was still amazing, I'm so glad I made it to Carnevale! (My camera is broken, so I don't have pics, but I will take some from Jessica and Laura and put them up as soon as I can!)
