It's my birthday today, and I might just be getting an awesome present...a place to live! We looked at a super cute apartment today, we are just waiting to see if they will let us rent for only 5 months...hopefully I'll have good luck for my b-day!
We were riding the metro this morning and a guy came on and started playing an accordian. He was very talented and his music made the ride much more enjoyable. Jessica and I were very impressed, but the little old ladies in their fur coats (they are everywhere!) seemed more annoyed than anything :(
Another thing I've noticed about Milan...graffiti is everywhere. At first I thought we were maybe in "bad" parts of the city, but even downtown it is everywhere. According to a guidebook I have, graffiti has historically been a way for the Milanese people to express themselves during times of miltiary occupation and repression, and has thus become a huge part of the culture. Even though I understand why it's part of the culture, it's hard to change my American views of graffiti...
