A chilled morning at the hotel then dropped our bags at the train station left luggage then a quick trip back into town to Ethos for a lunch/dinner. Back to train station then all aboard our overnight sleeper train to Chiang Mai! There were lots of guards smartly dressed and I saw a few carrying guns and batons which was slightly worrying. Anyway, set off at 7:35 in the evening to arrive at 10am the next day. We had 2 seats to ourselves and about 9pm our coach guard came around to start setting up the beds. The top bunk had less room and straps on the outside, I guess to stop you falling out as the train was pretty bumpy!!! I didn't want the top bunk so Emma and I squeezed in the bottom bunk together! Safe to say neither of us slept much, but in all it was a pretty good train journey.
