Took a bus trip & hike to a hill tribe village in eastern Shan state. Sarah was poorly with a tummy bug so stayed at the hotel & chilled. The ride bus ride to the foot of the mountain was very bumpy in our little mini bus but we made it. We then hiked up the hillside (no where near as steep as golden rock) stopping at local villages to hand out 'medicines', biscuit & balloons for the children. We visited 4 villages in all & everyone was friendly & welcoming. We were even given Sufi to try....local rice whisky! Interesting stuff. The last village we stopped in had a nursery school & all the children were napping under their mosquito nets......needless to say our clamping around woke them up & they all came out & sang us songs, recited the alphabet and numbers in English & Burmese.....most English children struggle with just the English version at this age!! We then handed out biscuits, pencils & exercise rise books, they were all very grateful & excited 😊. We also went to a junior school it was great to see children in the play ground playing football & making paper aeroplanes to keep themselves amused, not a mobile phone in sight. Had a lovely days trek.
This evening the group decided on a restaurant that was too far to walk to so Ei arranged a Tuk-tuk, it was great fun they even waited for us and took us safely back to out hotel.....what a fab day, Sarah was feeling better by the evening & joined us for dinner 😊
