Inle Lake

MYANMAR | Sunday, 30 November 2014 | Views [311] | Comments [1]

Inle Lake is 22km long with the locals living and working in stilted bamboo houses.

We took a short walk to jump into our 3 boats to take us around the lake.  We saw the unique fishing techniques with some of them posing at the end of their small wooden boat, standing on 1 leg, paddle in 1 hand and their big fishing net in the other being pushed out to their side with their other foot - gave me some ideas for my total stability class ;-) !!

Our stop offs on the lake included a busy market, silk and lotus weaving (straight from the lotus plant!), cigar making, boat building and a walk around some basic lovely hidden pagodas.

Enjoying reading all about your travels and adventures, I must admit, your first trek sounded amazing but totally exhausting with that humidity, we all agreed in the total stability class that we would probably all have turned around and gone back down too! Are you bringing back fishing nets then for our new exercises? Should be interesting! Take care xx
