Overnight in the monastery

MYANMAR | Sunday, 30 November 2014 | Views [277]

Early wake-up call for short flight to HeHo. After a few hours on the coach we were dropped off for the start of our trek up to the monastery with a pre arranged local lunch just for our group at a local home in the middle of nowhere. The lunch was amazing (i was prepared for the worst case scenario of just rice), soup with fish curry, rice, lovely local veg and I will say it, really nice tofu!!!!

We ascended onwards and as we did the air cooled and we had lovely passing breezes which were very welcomed!!

Arrived at the monastery, there were about 3 main buildings and we had 1 to ourselves with the upstairs as our communal sleeping area: 1 big enough open room for us all to sleep in, each with a very thin mattress, blanket and pillow.

I don't think many of us slept too well that night, but was good to have done it!
