Finally time to let the lantern go, the main monk lets go of the Loi Krathong lantern as the second monk claps along to a chant.

The Northern Thai village's main monk gets ready to let go of the main lantern in their Loi Krathong Festival celebrations. There was a heavy wind this night and it took quite a long time to light the lantern to keep it going.

Each year for Loi Krathong, the village makes homemade fireworks and sets them off. This shot captures the joy of the people and the magic of the light.
