We awoke nice and early to catch our bus to lyon..it was a drizzly day, so perfect for traveling :) we'd decided on lyon as it was a good midway point to the south of France..after about 6 hours we arrived in lyon..our airbnb person hadnt replied so we just walked in to a hotel and booked as there weren't any hostel options..we were welcomed by a lovely guy called Abraham..we had some food then explored a bit, beginning with the city's park..which had a free zoo!! Unfortunately it was late so it was pretty well closed but we still saw deer in a paddock and zebra and giraffe in their nighttime pens..so cool! We then caught the subway and gondola thing up to the basilica on top of the hill looking over lyon..was all lit up and very beautiful, quite roman inspired..with great views of the city :) we made our way down and had some dinner in the cobblestone streets at a cafe in a church square..where there were fire twirlers, dinner and a show!
A short and sweet trip to lyon, we'd organised a blabla car for the next morning..a miscommunication with Elle and I meant we had some difficulty finding them but we did eventually! Two nice young guys traveling from Paris to Nice..they didn't speak a lot of English but it was fine..they even shared their cookies and chocolate with us :P about 4/5 hours later we arrived in stunning Nice on the French Riviera :) the guys were nice enough to drop us right at our hostel..which was more like a hotel!! So nice and relatively cheap so we were very happy..we got changed in to our swimmers, got a bottle of red and headed to the beach to chill..'twas so beautiful :) the large pebbles were a tad uncomfortable tho!
