My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

At age 26 i received an analog camera as Christmas gift. I felt like a kid again. I was so excited. It actually brought so much fun back to photography after years of lazy mobile phone photography. It was so different because it got me to think again. It has forced me to observe more, to learn almost forgotten analog techniques and to play with film effects. It has also enabled me to interact with many people who have actually never seen such cameras. To catch instants, slice of life my cameras have quickly become my perfect companion on these endless walks in an ever changing city like Shanghai.
Since my move to Shanghai in 2006 i work for a multinational company which for some people is an achievement. But i don't feel i am realising myself. The true me want the opportunity to shout and break free from the corporate world, travel the world and document it through my own vision. Winning this scholarship would give me the opportunity to learn and develop my skills. This would also test my passion which i see necessary to my next step which would be to start a career as a freelance photographer.
