So I met with the Millenium Christchurch yesterday and got all the paperwork sorted. I start work on Monday and will be making 12/hour to start. After 3 months I'll have a review and the payrate will increase by some amount. That is the least of my concerns though as this is an amazing opportunity.
My official position is as a Food and Beverage Attendant in their conferencing department. This position will encompass all aspects of a conference from set up to tear down and everything in between. While I am working I will also be working towards a NZ Hospitality Qualification because I am in the Millenium's Professional Development Programme. This program can take anywhere between 3 months-year depending on experience and personal progress. Once I have completed the program I should be available for a promotion within the company. The NZ qualification will allow for a better pay raise and looks good on the resume.
I will also be putting in 10 or 15 hours a week in guest services. This is just a way to make some extra money and gain experience in another aspect of hospitality. Needless to say I am very excited about this new job and the promises for future employment.
In other news...there isn't much to post. Last weekend we had our flatwarming party which was a blast. I've met a bunch of great people down here. Went into the city on Friday night to this great little place called His Lordships Lane. There a bunch of great pubs and a club to hang out in. Looking forward to this weekend!
