A hot summer sun rises over Fingal headland to bathe the coast in warmth. "Red sky in morning, sailors take warning" - the silhouetted fisherman edges ever closer to the breaking waves. A member of the native indigenous Aboriginal community, the Bundjalung people, told me that lives have been lost off the headland in the past, but it doesn't stop their pursuit of the perfect catch.

First light breaks over Cook Island. Shot from Fingal beach, New South Wales, Australia. this marks the beginning of my story; a snapshot into the life of the local people and the place they call home. Fingal Head is just south of the Queensland border. It has a rich Aboriginal heritage and is a part of the Tweed Shire council. Home to carefree people, beautiful scenery, a surfing lifestyle and some remarkable wildlife, Fingal Head is a place with abundant natural beauty.

Better light later in the morning wakes up some of the local wildlife - what I believe to be a dark grey Heron (or similar). The story of this bird is solely focused on catching a mid-morning snack.
