Me, my bike and I

Cycling around Europe was the last thing I thought I would do in my life. Maybe Ewan and Charlie influenced me a little, but definately the brother of a great friend of mine (Bini) did. Sure, I have dreamt of seeing the world and learning languages my whole life, the funny thing was, I never did anything to get out of Australia, nor to learn a language.

I have changed that. It started with wanting a white Jul (winter solstice) with my friend Hanne. Now I am in Europe and am learning German, Italian and Norwegian (with a little Swedish and Danish mixed in). I have worked in Norway for almost 2 winter seasons in 2009 and the 2009/2010 in Kvitfjell - the home of the down-hill skiing of the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics in Norway.

Summer 2009 I cycled a bit.  I took a train to Gøteborg and bought a bicycle and cycled the west coast of Sweden, through Denmark, with the help of a train in Germany, visited Austria, cycled a bit of Slovenia, Italy, went into Austria, Germany agian, Switzerland and followed the Rhein to Frankfurt, before visiting Køln and going back to Bolzano with the train.

This time, the concept is to have more visas, more time and to cycle more.  I want to participate in CouchSurfing more, try out WWOOFing and take my time to experience culture and the languages of the countries I visit... The plan is to do this, until my visas run out.

:-)
