For the rivalry between Shanghai and Beijing, the former boasts its Western openness and liberal lifestyle but someone is still always watching you. China is always watching.

The generation gap in China is a wide one but when you see old embracing new, traditional embracing modern, the juxtaposition reminds you that there's magic in these colossal first tier cities.

It doesn't always feel like there are 24 million in this city, but as soon as there's fish food in the water, you'll wonder how you breathe with so many people in the same place. Opportunities are coveted and competition is fierce here.
